FLAG presents itself as an ideal symbol of the constellation of the flag of the United States of America, providing an artistic interpretation of the stars – the 50 states of the nation.
While recalling the memory of the American people – the new landmark with the number of stars varying according to the changing number of the states – symbolizes at the same time the historic, the actual, and eventually the future growth of the country.
The stars, with their 3D photovoltaic solar systems, are generators of energy during the day and a self-sustainable digital media art installation in the nighttime.
The solar system, composed of polycrystalline polygonal modules of different sizes, integrates a matrix of LED lights that generate a dynamic computer-controlled display.
The installation of media-walkable floors presents itself as a place of different communicative possibilities. FLAG is able to create a light choreography of moving images, synchronizing simultaneously 50 videos, one for each of the stars.
